Abstract:
Activist aspect of translation that has illocutionary and perlocutionary dimensions is a sort of speech act that rouses, inspires, witnesses, mobilize, incites to rebellion and so forth. Therefore, literary translations in Iran during the years of 1963-1979 are speech acts that signify the assertion of power by deciding purposefully to subvert traditional allegiance of translation by interjecting their translators‟ own world view and politics into the work of themselves. Thus, translators of literary works undertook the works they did because they believed the texts they produced would benefit humanity or impact positively upon the receptor culture in ways that are broadly ideological. Consequently, this paper, according to Foucault‟s notion of power/knowledge and translation theories in the domain of power investigates the role of literary translations in socio-political Marxist movements and their participation in dialectic of power, the ongoing process of discourse and strategies for socio-political change in Iran during 1963-1979
