Abstract:

Concurrent Engineering is a well–known method for reducing the cost of design and fabrication and reducing the duration of running a project with variety of complex subsystems. This method is one of the latest method of engineering systems that contains disciplines of Project Management, Technical Management and Quality Management. On the other hand, fabricating and using miniaturized satellites instead of big satellites which need lots of time and cost to spend, is a new approach in aerospace industries. This paper explains the way of fabricating a cansat using concurrent engineering approach. With the aid of this method 16.67% of construction time and 14.92% of the expenses comparative with employer experiences has been reduced. Every detailed design has been documented and the Reliability, Availability, Maintenance and Safety (RAMS) qualified as well. In technical view IDAS cansat use the technical management at high level so it causes creativity in construction, reducing the time of providing preliminary design and critical design, solving the technical problems in a short time. Finally, IDAS cansat done its mission properly without any problems. Use of concurrent engineering could help the relationship between the universities and industries because of its beneficial points.
