Aeroelastic Instability and Response of 2-D Airfoil in Gust with Various Profiles abstract
A unified aeroelastic model developed toward investigating the flutter instability and aeroelastic response of a 2-D plunging-pitching airfoil to gust loads in the incompressible flow, is presented. The unsteady aerodynamic loads are based on two different models, Indicial functions, 2-D Vortex Lattice method, in conjunction with flat plate assumptions. Parameter study on eigenvalues of aerodynamic model, flutter boundary and airfoil aeroelastic response is presented and a special attention is given to the different discritization schemes in solving governing differential equations of motion. Comparison is made between different aerodynamic models, shows good agreement between models.
