Comparison of AQI in the East and West of Tehran by a new statistical method abstract
In this paper, air pollution in the east (region 4) and west (region 22) of Tehran was compared in terms of air pollution index (AQI) by using a new statistical method. First, proper statistical distributions were fitted on the AQI data of these regions. Second, the probability that the west of Tehran is more polluted than east of it, was obtained by a Bayesian method. Finally, a Bayesian credible interval was constructed for this scale. The analysis showed that (1) AQI data of region 4 and region 22 had distribution with power hazard function with parameters (0.000315, 2) and (0.000277, 2), respectively. (2) A Bayes estimator of this scale was equal to 0.519 and its 95% Bayesian credible interval was (0.436, 0.594). So, although there was no significant difference between the AQI of regions (credible interval included 0.5), with probability greater than 0.5 (0.519) the west of Tehran was more polluted than east of it.
