Abstract:

The oil industry is very dependent on accurate determination of reservoir rock properties, since reducing the costs and risks to production planning. Pressure changes or pore pressure (formation pressure) is the effective stress changes and formation pressure against the effects of internal storage compression will be responsible. Reduction of formation pressure resulting due to the production of reservoir fluid, increases the effective stress and the resulting compression of the reservoir. The reservoir rock often denser pore pressure. This affects the petrophysical properties such as porosity rocks. Studying the phenomenon of reservoir rock samples Hysteresis, rarely considered as a parameter, can be very important. In general, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Hysteresis on the carbonate reservoir rock porosity under loading and unloading are consecutive. In fact, by this study is to identify the size of Hysteresis effect on reservoir rock samples by increasing and decreasing pressure during cyclic loading will be allowed. For this, 10 core samples of the South West s of oil reservoir that are available in the Petroleum Industry Research Center, is used.
