Review on Sarcocystosis in ruminant in Iran

Objective: Sarcocystosis outbreak has been reported in most parts of Iran. But there is no comprehensive report on infecton of Sarcocyst in the country. This study was conducted to assess the approximate contamination in Iran. Methods: In this review, various reports about sarcocystosis were collected over the past years and the contamination of ruminants such as sheep, goats, cattle, buffalo and camels to this parasite collected to determine approximate sarcocyct infection in Iran. Results: Average infection among 10115 sheep, 863 goats, 2310 cattle, 457 buffalo, 530 camels were reported 83.91%, 99.45%, 95.37%, 45.56%, 56.65% respectively. Conclusion: it is recommend to consume well coocked meat due to the high contamination of ruminant meat to Sarcocyts.
