Abstract:

Core/shell particles are composed of two or more materials. The combination of magnetic materials with fluorescent materials in core/shell structures have attracted considerable attention. In this research, Fe3O4@ZnS(1) and Fe3O4@ZnS(2) core/shell nanocomposites were synthesized and characterized. At First, Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesized by the solvothermal method, then zinc sulfide was grown on the surface of magnetic core by different methods. Fe3O4@ZnS(1) composites were synthesized by using Zinc acetate, Ethylene Glycol, and Thiourea, and the Fe3O4@ZnS(2) composites were prepared by using Sodium dodecyl sulfate, Zinc acetate, and Thioacetamide. Core/shell nanoparticles were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), IR, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray(EDX) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The XRD pattern confirmed the phase purity and crystallinity of the nanocomposites. SEM images showed the spherical particles, in the size of 600nm and 56nm for Fe3O4@ZnS(1) and Fe3O4@ZnS(2), respectively.VSM results confirmed the compounds superparamagnetic properties and the saturation magnetization values for Fe3O4@ZnS(1) and Fe3O4@ZnS(2) are 22emu/g and 44emu/g, respectively. Due to using Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in the Fe3O4@ZnS(2), these core/shell nanoparticles have small particles size.
