Abstract:
The new equations were derived for computing shear stress distribution in circular channels using Shannon entropy concept. These equations are simpler than old equations that were obtained by other researchers. The proposed model estimate power-low shear stress distribution with reasonably accuracy. A comparison with the published experimental data demonstrates that the proposed model is more capable of predicting the boundary shear stress distribution than old equation was obtained with this concept. In circular channel with increasing flow depth the distribution of shear stress become more uniform and the proposed model with 1.99% error percentage showed better function than old model with 3.9%.
