Abstract:

Preparing of membrane from poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) is attractive, , especially for enhancement of CO2 selectivity. Pweparation of PEO-based membranes are challenged by weak mechanical properties and a high crystallization that hinders gas transport. In this study, we explain some methods to increase mechanical and transport properties in PEO-based membrane. the best methods to improve PEO-based membrane properties are copolymerization method, crosslinking and blending polymers containing of long chain PEO. The result show permeability is higher when the PEO chains are longer while selectivity does not depend on the PEO length in the copolymer. The permeability and lectivity increase by crosslinking and blending. Transport properties for the CO2/N2 gas pair, is very near to the Robeson s upper bound at 30 C and even in closer proximity to the corresponding trade off line for higher permeation temperatures.
