Effectiveness of Urban Furniture Designing to Enhance Social Interactions

Among human needs, communication and social interaction are very important. Walking urban spaces are places for citizens and their participation in public life that addressing the quality of these elements will maximize social interactions. Hence, the existence of quality and satisfaction seem essential and undeniable in the sustainable development of urban space and a lack of interest in line with city creates threats. Urban furniture and elements as devices that are installed in urban space and have public use can enliven the urban space and can be considered as a constructive approach to sustainable urban development, with the goal of improving the quality of urban space and human needs, proper design of urban furniture is important as an effective factor in improving the quality of urban environment. The purpose of this study is to provide design solutions for urban furniture to enhance social interaction. In the present study research based on goal is functional and based on the nature is descriptive-analytic. Concepts such as vitality, beauty, identity and urban furniture have been provided and then with an analytical look at the relationship, these topics will be discussed. The results of this paper suggest that urban furniture enhances civilians’ relationships and social interaction and society will come out of isolation and withdrawal, and people will be inclined to public spaces.
