Abstract:
urethane acrylate resin was synthesized and the resin was used along with different multifunctional acrylate monomers, i.e. rimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA), tripropylene glycol diacrylate (TPGDA), 1,6-hexanedioldiacrylate (HDDA). The influence of chemical structure of the reactive diluents on some of the physical and mechanical properties of UV-cured film was investigated by using an efficient surface response. Mixture design as an appropriate tool due to its intrinsic advantages was used for the experimental design. The results showed that the resin and TMPTA had a more significant effect on microhardness than the others. Microhardness decreased as the amount of the resin increased and TMPTA represented a reverse trend on this property. Adhesion of coating to the substrate decreased as the amount of the resin increased but it increased slightly with the increment of the amount of other components. All components also had a significant influence on the scratch resistance. An optimization based on these properties is also suggested.
