The decreasing in coal and oil resources and the global warming problem creates an increasing need for sustainable alternative energy resources. Hydropower forms 95% of the worldwide produced sustainable energy and about 20% of the world’s electricity overall. Hydropower plays an important role in the global renewable energy supply [1]. In 2011, hydropower accounted for 15% of the global electricity production [2]. Among all renewable energy sources, it is the most reliable and cost effective renewable source of energy [3,4]
