Real Time Demand Response Programming inNatural Gas and Power Nexus abstract
Interdependency between electricity and natural gas is growing because of global warming and energy crisis. Coupled natural gas and power network takes advantages of global, economic and environmental benefits such as need of gasfired generation plants to lower carbon footprint and fuel cost, fast response of such generators to fluctuations of renewables in comparison with traditional coal-fired units. In this paper, a real time demand response programming strategy is implemented on an integrated natural gas and electricity grid to minimize total fuel cost of cogeneration facility taking into account all operation constraints of optimal power flow problem. Economic benefits and effectiveness of real time demand side management approach on optimal co-operation of natural gas and electricity grids is revealed by solving a non-linear programming problem using CONOPT tool of general algebraic modeling system (GAMS) optimization software.
