Abstract:
Understanding of micro-scale combustion mechanism is every essential to development of combustion based micro- power devices, which may supply much higher energy density than other sources, used nowadays. In this paper The structure of premixed particle-cloud flame in micro-combustor, containing uniformly distributed lycopodium particles, in an oxidizing gas mixture is analyzed. A mechanism is proposed by which flame broadening occurs via the exchange of heat from the post-flame region to the preheat zone through the structure of the combustor. The derivation of the model employs reasoning similar to that used by Mallard to predict the velocity of a freely propagating flame but extends it to include the effect of the thermal exchange within the structure of the combustor. Consequently, the effect of particle-cloud propagation on the vital characteristic of the micro-combustor such as flame speed and flame thickness is investigated in this research.
