Abstract:
The dissolved oxygen (DO) analysis in nitrification process using trickling filter provides useful factors to evaluate the trickling filter performance in achieving nitrite pathway. In this research nitrification process was performed on municipal wastewater during 125 days using a pilot setup consisting trickling filter. This operation resulted in wastewater ammonium load reduce and the ammonium to nitrate conversion efficiency of 83%. The nitrite pathway was also studied for a 15-day operation. The result of performing the process which was automatically and without using any additional equipment such as oxygen feed source, implies the inappropriate performance of trickling filter in nitrite pathway achievement.
