Abstract:

A wireless sensor network is a set of connected sensors where each sensor node is capable of collecting some information, processing it, storing the information if necessary and communicating it via other sensors until the collected data reaches a base station (sink) where necessary decisions have to be taken. In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), sensor node deployment is essential for maximizing the coverage and detection probabilities. In this paper, the application of Cuckoo Search algorithm (CS) in optimization model for sensor node deployment. In this paper we used a multi-objective Cuckoo Search algorithm based optimization model for sensor node deployment. The objectives considered in the study include maximizing network coverage, connectivity and network lifetime. In this study multi-objective function constructed with the input parameters such as node degree, link quality and residual energy. We evaluate the performance of Packet Delivery Ratio, Average delay, Average Energy Consumption and Estimation Error. Making a comparative study of the obtained results with two well -known optimization algorithms confirms that the proposed Cuckoo search Algorithm produces better performance in Optimization Model for Sensor Node Deployment
