Motivation, Cognitive Linguistics and Teaching Second Language abstract

In this research, the relationship between motivation, cognitive linguistics and second language teaching is expressed to clarify the role of motivation in teaching foreign language. Human being is a social being, and it is not possible for him to live alone because he needs help from his fellows to meet his needs. To communicate with fellow humans, humans should use language tools. Since there are many different languages in the world, people must learn a common language to communicate. Because of the important role that language teaching has in human societies, it is crucial to address the facilitators of language learning. Since research on the role of motivation as a cognitive tool facilitating language learning has not been done on Persian language learners before, such a research has an important place in linguistics and language teaching. The question that the research seeks to answer is whether there is a relationship between cognitive linguistics and motivation and language learning To find an answer to this question, the study of the links between cognitive linguistics, motivation and its effect on language teaching was examined by searching for available resources. Finally, it was found that motivation as a cognitive concept has a major role in teaching foreign language, especially in the formulation of resources for teaching English language. The results of this research can be used in foreign language teaching programs.
