Abstract:

Aglaonema is a monocotyledonous genus belonging to the family Araceae, which inhibit in humid and heavily shaded forests of southeastern Asia, north eastern India, Malaysia, Indonesia and china. Tissue culture and micropropagation of Aglaonema was studied with terminal and axillary buds taken as explants. Aseptic culture was initiated by culturing stem nodal segments on Murashige and skoog (MS) medium containing different concentration of TDZ (0.5, 1, 1.5 mg/l), Kinetin (0.5, 1 , 1.5 mg/l) and BAP (0.5, 1 mg/l). The results showed that the appropriate medium for axillary buds proliferation was MS + 1.5 mg/l TDZ.
