Exchange of Ideas between Cultures through News Translation: Iranian Ideas Contributed by American Officials abstract
There is a large volume of published studies describing translation as a means of intercultural communication. Among other types, news translation essentially for its universality and memorability plays a more active role in this setting. The aim of this study is to show how news translation acts as a powerful means to interchange ideas from one culture to another. In order to identify this process, as a sample the statements of American officials about Iran and living condition of Iran s population during last 4 years ago will be gathered from English news agencies, and then the echo of their voices will be conformed to the Iranian ideas. The approach outlined here draws on insights from the works of Susan Bassnett (1999-2011) and Kyle Conway (2015), and the conclusions to be reached will point to the influential role of news translation in intercultural communication and also globalization.
