Abstract:

The fantasy genre has always been an attractive part of the child and adolescent literature. By creating a bridge between the thoughts and the inner world of the child with external facts, it presents them a world full of childish concerns. In this research, we aim to study comparatively some works in the field of children s fantasy literature in two languages, Persian and English. To do so, among all fantastic works, the short stories in which the characters are animals have chosen. We chose Beartrix Potter series in English and the collection of Small Stories for Little Children in Persian. We analyzed the data regarding social concepts such as gender, power, disobedience, friendship and order. The results show that the authors of both languages have used their Fantastic characters to express social concepts. They have expressed characters relationship in such a way that they can implicitly address the concepts of power, gender, disobedience, friendship, greed, cooperation and order. All the stories contain a specific concept and context, and the characters come together to express a particular purpose and teach indirectly and fantastically a lesson.
