Abstract:

This paper proposes a model predictive current control for a three-phase inverter connected to the grid by using Runge-Kutta approximation method. At this method each of 7 possible switching states are checked to select a state that minimizes the cost function. However, the current ripples cannot decrease to a minimum value. Hence, for having sufficient performance, the sampling frequency should be selected high. In order for finding a solution to this problem, using Runge-Kutta approximation method is introduced. Simulation results verify that, the proposed method by using Runge-Kutta approximation obtain reduced current ripples and lower total harmonic distortions compared to the conventional method by using Forward Euler approximation.
