Abstract:
In this work, a functionalization technique, solvent assisted ligand incorporation (SALI), wasapplied to efficiently incorporate carboxylate-based functionalities in a Zr-based metalorganicframework [1,2]. Unlike previous metal node functionalization strategies, which employdative bonding to unsaturated metal sites, SALI presents functional groups as stronglybound moieties to the Zr6 node. Using SALI, various compounds (2,2′-bipyridine-4-carboxylate, 2,2′-bipyridine-4-phosphonate, 4-TEMPO carboxylate and 4-aminobenzoate) onthe Zr6 nodes of the MOF efficiently were attached (Figure 1).
