Abstract:

All the new towns that have been established in Iran after the Islamic Revolution of 1979 have had the mutual goal of accommodating metropolises’ surplus population. Social and economic goals of establishing these new towns have either been neglected or considered insufficiently, which has caused a lot of difficulties for the inhabitants. This study aims to survey one of these problems: inhabitants’ low safety feeling from the perspective of economic functions. Studies declare that lack of dynamic economic functions in new towns and their high dependency on metropolises have consequences that lead to the reduction of inhabitance’s belonging and safety feeling. Moreover, Sadra Town does not have a dynamic economic and with no specific economic plan, it is becoming a large dormitory town with a high attraction for land traders
