Abstract:
In this study we have analyzed conduction heat transfer in a straight annular fin with variable thermal conductivity by relatively new method of Hybrid Differential Transform Finite Difference (HDTFD). The effect of time interval and the order of differential transform on the stability of the results have been studied and consequently a new concept to improve stability and computational cost of the method has been presented. In addition, we have presented the first comparison of this method with the method of Finite Difference (FD). Results show that the presentedconcept can reduce the minimum CPU time which is required to get acceptable results. Results also indicate that HDTFD can lead to more accurate results with less CPU time in comparison to FD.
