Abstract:
In this paper, an introduction to the wear of work roll in hot plate rolling is given and the influential parameters on wear mechanisms in hot strip mill are investigated. Essential theories related to work roll wear as an important goal of this study is explained. A work roll wear model is proposed. In this model, hot rolling process is modeled using the finite element method, and wear is obtained by means of the resultant pressuredistribution along the roll. To obtain the tentative coefficients, summation of wear in each pass schedule was obtained and calibrated via actual wear of samples tested in the Mobarakeh Steel Company. This model is a complete one as many influential parameters are taken into account. Predicted wear profiles are found to be in good agreement with that of the industrial measured values.
