Abstract:
Chronic thromboembolic hypertension (CTEPH) refers to pulmonary hypertension (PH) due to recurrent pulmonary emboli. The incidence of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) followed by pulmonary embolism is unknown. The true frequency may be underestimating because the disease is not diagnosed due to non specific symptoms and variable course of disease. The history of acute pulmonary embolism was detected in 74.8% of patients. Treatment of CTEPH is now challenging. Despite the medical or surgical treatment, the disease prognosis is poor.
