The interactions between translation and terminology

The study on translation and terminology and the relationships existing between them have always been the issue of research. These two fields are mostly known as applied subject matters; meanwhile nowadays they are usually treated as distinct disciplines. As terminology has become more descriptive than prescriptive in theory and practice, translation of special domain language has become more professional and these developments are due to the help of technology. Scholars, throughout centuries, have attempted to solve problems of translation on the basis of terminological viewpoint and the available databases which make connection among these two major fields. Therefore, this paper actually reviews and summarizes the great researches done on the relationships between terminology and translation to discover valuable insights for translators and even terminologists
