Abstract:
In this study, a novel method for the degradation of MTBE from aqueous samples using titanium dioxide nanoparticles is presented. Coupled with different molar ratios of γ-Al2O3 and NiO, titanium dioxide was overcome. According to the results of photocatalytic degradation, the optimum ratio of γ-Al2O3 and NiO to TiO2 was obtained 1 and 0.5, respectively. Samples were characterized by XRD, DRS-UV/Vis, and SEM, TEM analysis. The effect of photocatalytic degradation of the synthesized samples on Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) (as a representative of a dangerous contaminant) was investigated. In this study, the effects of independent variables including pH, irradiation time, catalyst mass, and pollutant concentration at 5 levels were evaluated. The highest percentage of degradation of MTBE by TiO2 / γ-Al2O3 / NiO (0.5: 1: 1) conditions with pH of 3.07 catalyst mass 0.13 (g) MTBE concentration (ppm) of 41.03 and time of 101.14 min. The degradation efficiency was 99/54%.
