Alkylation and cyanation of thiophene as a substance with plentiful biological properties

Thiophene is a hetrocycle with high biological and pharmaceutical activity. Double functionalization of this compounds in one pot is one of the exciting challenges. In this study, using the Catellani strategy, it has been attempted to cyanation and alkylation the positions 2 and 3 of thiophene, respectively. One of the benefits of this reaction is the C-H activation of position 3 of thiophene followed by the formation of two carbon-carbon bonds in one pot.
