Abstract:

Among the horticultural crops, citrus is the most important crop from the economical aspects, employment generating, nutritional and pharmacological value. Nowdays citrus industry has the special role in export in citrus grown countries. The southern regions of Iran with suitable climatically condition are the most potential areas for lime varieties production. With respect to these matters that Iran is one of the main lime producer in the world, the applid researches about orchards breeding by selection of the best compound of rootstock and scion to increase the quality and quantity of the products is very essential. In order to represent the best compound of rootstocks and scion lime varieties with emphasis on qualitative and quantitative characters to introduce for gardeners, an experiment was conducted in factorial with randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 18 treatments at three replications in Darab research station in 1999-2004. The treatments were three varities included Persian lime, Tournless lime, and Mexican lime on six different rootstocks which in primary investigation were selected as suitable cases. Each replication included 4 trees (two paired rows) and totally 216 trees were evaluated. Statistical analysis was carried out by variation analysis Method. In these analysis the effects of rootstocks and varieties and their interactions were measured. The vegetative indices in rootstocks and varieties and their interactions were compared by Duncan's multiple range test. During the investigation all of horticultural practices were the same on treatments. The results of recording conducted analysis of variation in vegetative phase indicated that different compound of rootstoks and scion has signifieant effect (P<5%) on some vegatative indices such as crown height and canopy volume. Observations conducted in outdoor bed seedling and expected indicated that considerable differences among different rootstocks in the other vegetative indices included that seeds germination percentage, bud seedling percentage and mean days for germination of seeds.
