A Novel Polymer Dressing using Flax Seed Mucilage as an Herbal Substance for Effective Wound Healing

The polymer wound dressing is a highly absorbent dressing that is easy to remove from the wound. Among the other advantages of this wound dressing are high absorption capacity, comfortable and conformable, they can be used under compression and absorbing exudate to help reduce odor and toxins from the wound. In this paper, a novel polymer dressing using flaxseed mucilage as an herbal substance for effective wound healing is introduced. The primary herbal substance used in this wound dressing is flaxseed mucilage. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed novel polymer dressing, the drug delivery test, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) test, and the antibacterial test are performed on the proposed polymer wound dressing. Results show that the proposed polymer wound dressing can be made as an economical and effective polymer dressing in order to heal wounds
