Effects of music therapy on behavioral symptoms in Alzheimer disease’s patients: a review

One of the important issues in society is theincreasing number of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients. This kindof patient may have some behavioral symptoms such as anxiety,depression, and agitation.For Alzheimer’s disease we have pharmacological and nonpharmacologicaltreatment, music therapy is one of the nonpharmacologicaltreatments that may reduce behavioral symptoms.The aim of this study is investigating the effectiveness of musictherapy on behavioral symptoms in AD patients.Databases were searched for studies using music therapy over thelast ۱۰ years. These studies were in English and included patientswith AD and music therapy were performed.as a result, researchers' studies show that music therapy as a nonpharmacologicaltreatment for behavioral symptoms in Alzheimer'spatients can be beneficial and uncomplicated. and it can reduceanxiety and agitation, also MT can reduce the score of depression inpatients.
