Abstract:

A new coating method was developed for hollow fiber membrane in the module form. The obtained coatings on the membranes were characterized using SEM–EDX and FTIR. The influence of different operational conditions on CO۲ removal from a simulated flue gas mixture was investigated. A good CO۲ removal capacity of ۷۰% was achieved in one separation stage, which shows the viability of CO۲ capture by this absorbent. The main operational parameters such as the gas to liquid flow rate ratio (Fg/Fa) between ۱ to ۵, the sweep gas flow rate (Fs) of ۲۴۰,۴۰۰ and ۶۰۰ L/h and the temperature of absorption from ۵ °C to ۱۷ °C and desorption from ۴۵ °C to ۵۷ °C were optimized aiming to achieve the best separation performance and economize the separation process. Optimization of operational conditions was performed using an empirical model from experimental results
