The cost-effective synthesis of antiviral drug Acyclovir in high yield and purity

Due to the special importance of the synthesis of antiviral drugs, in the present study we described a high yield procedure for the industrially production of Acyclovir as a selective anti-herpes agent. In this study acyclovir was synthesized from di-Acetyl acyclovir trough mild hydrolysis process. The structure of synthesized sample were confirmed by their NMR chemical shifts (۱H-NMR and ۱۳C-NMR) and high-performance liquid chromatography HPLC data. This procedure represented an acceptable yield about ۷۰% (based on di-Acetyl acyclovir weight) with more than ۹۸.۷% purity of Acyclovir
