Abstract:
This research was conducted to screen effects of salicylic acid (SA) and selenium (Se) to mitigate signs of salinity on Echium amoenum. Seedlings were treated with NaCl (۰ and ۸۰ mM), foliar application of SA (۰, ۲ and ۴ mM) and Se (۰ and ۰.۵ mM). SA and/or Se had significant enhancing and alleviating effects on the plant height, shoot and root fresh weight and flower number. The limiting effects of salinity on plant height and flower number were significantly eased by the SA and/or Se, among which combined treatment of ۲ mM SA + ۰.۵ mM Se and ۴ mM SA + ۰.۵ mM Se were the most effective, respectively. Based on theobtained results, it could be stated that the foliar utilization of SA in combination with Se may be used to relieve the signs of salinity stress.
