Abstract:

An electrochemical sensor for the selective voltammetric determination of trace amounts of ceftriaxone (CFRX) was developed. For this purpose, a pencil graphite electrode (PGE) is modified with multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) and silver nanoparticle@Preyssler heteropolyacid (AgNPs@PHPA). The synthetic compounds, morphology, and surface characteristics of the modified sensor were evaluated with FE-SEM, FT-IR, and UV/Vis. Adsorptive differential pulse voltammetry (AdDPV) techniques were applied for the CFRX electrochemical analysis on the modified sensors. The electrochemical behavior of CFRX was investigated on AgNPs@PHPA-MWCNT/PGE in a phosphate buffer solution (PBS), pH=۷.۰, and the results were compared with those obtained using the unmodified. Under the optimum conditions, the current response for the detection of CFRX was linear in one concentration range from ۱.۰×۱۰-۹ to ۳.۰ ×۱۰-۶ M to (R۲ =۰.۹۹۹۶) and the obtained limit of detection was ۲.۵۴×۱۰-۱۰ M. The developed electrochemical sensor shows greater sensitivity than the earlier reported techniques for the CFRX measurement. The results prove that the modified electrode is also suitable for the determination of CFRX in pharmaceutical and clinical preparations.
