Abstract:

Floods are the most widespread, destructive, and frequent natural disasters which threaten human societies and impose major damage on them due to the accumulation of property and assets in urban areas. To reduce the effects of floods on urban environments, the concept of resilience is a new way to assess the sustainability of urban systems. Iran is considered a flood zone. Every year there is a lot of financial loss and deaths in different areas such as Tehran, Shiraz, Golestan, etc. due to floods[۱]. Unfortunately, in the last decade, this has increased, so resilience against floods has become an important matter. In this study, the concept of resilience and identifying the best model for resilience have been researched through a literature review. This study aims to assess new models of resiliency against natural disasters in cities and choose the best model for flood resilience in Tehran. One of the ways to make our community resilient against floods in the physical dimension is collecting surface water. Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran University, Laleh Park, and Saei Park, could be some of the most suitable places as flooding areas for surface water storage in district ۶ of Tehran.
