Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between Iranian male and female high school EFL learners' willingness to communicate and their satisfaction with online education. To this end, ۱۱۰ secondary senior high school EFL learners (۶۵ males and ۴۵ females) with the age range from ۱۴ to ۱۸ were selected through convenience sampling. Two forms of Willingness to Communicate Questionnaires regarding learners’ communication inside the classroom and outside the classroom context developed by MacIntyre et al. (۲۰۰۱) and also the Learners’ Satisfaction with Online Education Questionnaire designed by Stefanovic et al. (۲۰۱۱) were utilized as the instruments of the study. Descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis were used to analyze the data. Results of the descriptive statistics indicated that participants were moderately willing to communicate in English inside and outside the language classroom, and perceived themselves moderately satisfied with e-learning. Correlational analyses also demonstrated that learners’ willingness to communicate is positively correlated with their satisfaction with online education for both genders.
