Abstract:

Fear of school is a psychosocial phenomenon in children's lives and is one of the symptoms of anxiety about separation from parents, home and family or the conditions that depend on it. This fear is especially evident at the beginning of school and is more important than other childhood fears in terms of the potential effects it has on child behavior. In fact, the school represents the outside world and a kind of reality that cannot tolerate the reality that the child has experienced at home. This refusal is equally prevalent among girls and boys and occurs mainly between the ages of ۵, ۶, ۱۰, and ۱۱ years. Unreasonable fears of school usually appear for the first time in preschool, kindergarten, or first grade, and peak in second grade, however avoidance behavior can occur at any age and They usually appear after a period of staying at home during which the child has been with his or her parent more than usual. To address this, the child must be exposed to the community and school officials should pay close attention to the child's behavior. Due to the detrimental impact of childhood fears on the development of creativity, learning and developmental disorders in adulthood, this article examines the concept of school refusal, its reasons, its prevention and its treatment.
