Abstract:

The accessibility to the oil or gas reservoirs is a sophisticated process including cost and timeconsumingprocedures. Generally, the resources are located thousands of meters inside the earth's crust. To reach such valuable organic energy drilling is an essential activity. Nowadays, companies are starvedto substitute mechanical drilling methods with innovative and progressive technologies. Amongsuggested advanced technologies such as chemical methods, laser energy can offer a variety ofadvantages in comparison to others. Some are raising the rate of penetration, avoiding wellboreinstability, and also effectively cutting transportation from a drilling point of view. The laser techniquesare based on spalling, melting, or vaporizing the rock formation instead of crushing or dragging. Themain scope of this piece of research is to describe highlights of the laser itself and its application inwell-drilling prospects. Cutting transport as an effective parameter in the well’s drilling was also labeledfor Laser Drilling Technology (LDT). The outcomes indicated that TDS is beneficial when majorrestrictions such as rock formation types and properties along with the well’s depth are examined. However, the validity of LDT for the oil and gas industry is a debate and still requires more assessmentto verification.
