Abstract:

Startups are businesses that are trying to find a successful and scalable business model. They are important to the economy but have a high failure rate due to many challenges and uncertainties. Startups are like a temporary team testing out different ideas to make a big business. Research investigated the factors influencing a platform startup business using Interpretive Structural Modelling. The association between the identified factors is established by employing an interpretive structural modeling methodology that is a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) approach. Later, the MICMAC analysis is carried out for identifying the factors having high influential power. Internal factors are influential and level one in the analysis, while environmental factors such as political, cultural, economic, international, and legal have direct or indirect impacts on the business and require further investigation through more complex modeling.
