Magnetic silica gel coated picoline of copper complex [Fe3O4@SiO2@GP/Picolylamine-Cu(II)]: A new catalyst for the synthesis of 1,1-diacetates (acylals) abstract

An efficient and simple procedure has been developed for the acetylation of aldehyde by Fe3O4@SiO2@GP/Picolylamine-Cu(II) as an efficient nanomagnetic catalyst under solvent-free conditions. In this study, selective conversion of aldehydes was observed in the presence of ketones. This procedure includes important aspects like simple procedure, high to excellent yields, environmentally benign reaction conditions and short reaction times. Also, the presented catalyst was recycled and reused for at least five times with only a negligible decrease in its catalytic activity.
