Abstract:
In this work, nano-structured calcium diethylenetriaminepenta (methylenephosphonic acid) (Ca-DTPMP) particles are synthesized through a surfactant aided precipitation method. The nanoparticles characteristics are determined by X-ray diffraction and high-resolution scanning electron microscopy analyses. The inhibition efficiency of the prepared nano-paticles is investigated through CaCO3 precipitation bulk experiments at three nano-inhibitors amounts i.e. 5.6, 8.6 and 11.2 ppm. The Ca2+ concentration variations are plotted against time through online electrochemical measurement. The pH curve is also ontained as a functions of time. The results showed that Nano-Ca-DTPMP inhibitors delay the precipitation of CaCO3, decelerate the Ca2+ concentration and pH reduction rate and increase the final Ca2+ concentration in the bulk solution. The inhibition effect is enhanced by its concentration increasing from 5.6 ppm to 11.2 ppm which cause an increase in Ca2+ bulk concentration from 35 ppm to 60 ppm. Furthermore, The inhibition effect of the prepared nano-inhibitors was compared with Ca-DTPMP particles synthesized with no surfactant and it was found that the Nano-structured Ca-DTPMP presents more effecient inhibition of the calcite precipitation than Ca-DTPMP particles
