Group training effect of Transactional Analysis on Marital adjustment and sexual satisfaction among married women abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of transactional analysis in promoting marital adjustment and sexual satisfaction among married women. Quasi-experimental test method with pre-test and post-test design was utilized. For the purpose of sampling, random convenient sampling method was used and thirty subjects were randomly selected. The subjects were randomly assigned to two control (n=15) and experimental (n=15) groups. The experimental group participated in nine sessions of two- hour weekly sessions. The instrumentation comprised The Spanier Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) and Enrich Marital Satisfaction Scale. The two scales were administered before and after the therapy to both groups. The obtained data were analyzed through analysis of covariance. Results indicated that transactional analysis method increased marital adjustment, sexual satisfaction, dyadic cohesion, dyadic consensus, and expression of love in the control group. It can be concluded that transactional analysis with an emphasis on self-knowledge and with activating behavior derived from adult ego is an effective intervening method for removing marital disagreements and increasing adjustment and sexual satisfaction among women.
