Abstract:

White tea is a lightly oxidized tea grown and harvested primarily in China. White tea comes from the buds and leaves of the Chinese Camellia sinensis plant. The leaves and buds are allowed to wither in natural sunlight before they are lightly processed to prevent oxidation or further tea processing. White tea is named from its unique characteristics, covered with white hair. The unique quality is obtained as a result of a special processing procedure of no frying and no crushing. There are many grades of white tea, depending on the different plucking criteria; these are Silver Needle with White Hair, White Peony, Gongmei, and Shoumei. White tea is considered a new tea having a wide range of health benefits, such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anticancer effects. New studies suggest that white tea also offers the benefits of green tea, and may be the most potent among teas in human health promotion
