Abstract:
This study presents a mathematical model to simulate carbon dioxide stripping process. Material and energy balance equations and VLE relations were used to predict the performance of the tower in order to model the system. The mathematical model comprising coupled sets of non-linear differential and algebraic equations were solved numerically. The obtained theoretical results demonstrated a good compatibility in comparison to industrial data (Shiraz Petrochemical Complex, Iran). Also the study presents the result of the flash section- located at the minimum distance of the tower- modeling which was not considered formerly, in order to optimize steam consumption in the re-boiler and reduce total costs
