Abstract:
Lots of English classes are still the same old traditional classes in which the teacher teaches thepoints and sets the homework; then, the educational performance is finished until the nextsession. According to personal experience, resumptive pronouns are one of the most problematicpoints in teaching English because there are differences between Persian and Englishgrammatical structures. This study aimed to examine the effect of blended learning and Webbasedlanguage teaching to teach L2 learners to correctly use resumptive pronouns. Also, itexamined the extent to which these methods improved the participants’ performance on theposttest. Participants were 40 young intermediate L2 learners (aged 15 to 19) assigned to 2groups of 20: The first group was taught by means of the blended learning method, and thesecond was taught using Web-based language teaching. Before the study, the participants weregiven the OPT to check their homogeneity; also, they were given a researcher-made test onresumptive pronouns to see their knowledge of such pronouns, the results of which demonstratedthey lacked such knowledge. Finally, both groups were given a researcher-made test again as theposttest to check the effect of each treatment. Findings indicated that blended learning was themost fruitful method. Outcomes of this study can be useful for L2 teachers, policy makers, andmaterials developers.
