Abstract:
Considering foreign language learners’ writing skill, task plays a significant role in the languageproduced by learners regarding accuracy, complexity and fluency. A central issue in task-basedlanguage learning concerns the influence of task complexity on linguistic performance, planningalso as another feature of the task is of great importance that needs to be considered in languagelearning. These two issues of task have been investigated by different scholars. Considering taskcomplexity, a large number of studies are dominantly centered on influential model proposed byRobinson. Regarding the other variable, which is task planning, according to Ellis (2005) it ismainly classified under two categories: pre-task and within-task planning. This study aims atproviding a review of some research articles on the effect of task complexity and planning onEFL learners’ writing proficiency.
