Abstract:
Stand-alone hybrid electricity supplier has traditionally considered as an alternative renewable energy solution. The purpose of this paper is to propose a stand-alone hybrid system combination for electricity generation from a mix of renewable energy resources to fulfill the electrical needs in a reliable manner of an off-grid remote apartment, Istanbul, Turkey. Two renewable resources, namely, solar photovoltaic systems, wind turbine are considered. The paper demonstrates the residential demand in the HOMER PRO analysis. The paper defines the optimal off-grid. The obtained solution shows that a hybrid combination of renewable energy and generators at an off-grid location can be a suitable alternative to grid extension (by considering the life cost cycle for 25 years). It is techno-economically viable and environmentally sound
