Abstract:
Flaring in Oil and natural gas companies generate a large amount of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in alm ost every point of world. During these processes, the most significant GHG emissions, including carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane, come from the combustion of fossil fuels for energy, the flaring and venting of gas, and losses from equipment. In the present study, 3 real cases study including 3gas flare system environment impacts are studied. In order to declining the emissions of flare combustion products, Flare Gas Recovery System has been proposed. The impact of Flare system and FGRS impacts include GHGs and Air pollutants investigated. Subsequently, a feasibility study has been performed on the use of flare gas recovery with different flow rate (Flare 1 to 3). For all scenarios, a simulation hasbeen conducted and the quantitative values of the flare gas recovery, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants reduction of each flare are determined. Moreover, cost estimation for each scenario carried out based on the economic data extracted from Clean Development Mechanism projects. The results showed that the flare gas recovery systems 1, 2 and 3 seems to be able to provide 28.6, 16.4 and 5.3 MMS3 each year respectively. The IRR of first flare gas recovery is 40% and with decreasing of the gas price or increasing of investment cost, the NPV index is found to become positive. IRR index of the second flare gas recovery is about 31%, the flare gas recovery system 3 possesses low IRR index near the interest rate 15%. Subsequently, greenhouse gas emissions decreased about 53450.8, 30686.5 and 9898.8 ton CO2e/yfor FGRS 1, 2 and 3, although 153, 88 and 28 ton air pollutant reduces annually respectively. Flare gas recovery for all flare systems found to be technically, environmentally and economically rational, and thus, these ideas seem to be the best option for the greenhouse emission reduction
